Bylaws of Iraqi Medical Association No. 81 of 1984, Modified Law

Pursuant to Paragraph (a) of Article 42 of the Provisional Constitution, Revolution Leading Council hereby decides in its session held on 13/9/1984 to promulgate

Law No. 81 of 1984:
Doctors Union Law
CHAPTER I
ESTABLISHMENT AND OBJECTIVES

Article 1
  1. Pursuant to the provisions of this law, a union shall be formed under the name Doctors Union (hereafter referred to as Union). It shall be a judicial person. Baghdad shall be its headquarter.
  2. The Union shall be formed of the following entities: a. General Conference, Union Council, c. Branch Board and Council, and Union Committee in the governorate, d. Discipline Committee in the governorate.
Article 2
    The Union shall function within the frame of the following objectives and means:

  1. Boosting up the medical profession, and enhancing the scientific and professional standards of the members.
  2. Organizing the relationship between the members, and encouraging the spirit of fraternity and cooperation among them.
  3. Organizing the job opportunities offered to the members.
  4. Offering the economic and social services to the members in a manner that ensures their benefit from the help offered by the Doctors Security Fund in cases of sickness, disability or death.
  5. Organizing the relationship between the members and the state’s machineries and other establishments and persons; and defending their rights; and enabling them to perform their duties; and cooperating with other unions and professional societies inside the country, whose objectives go in line with the Union’s, to participate in the growth and progress of the community.
  6. Strengthening the relationships with the doctors unions in the Arab world, and participating in the Arab Doctors Union.
  7. Cooperating, and data and experience exchanging with the Arab and international organizations, establishments and societies, whose objectives go in line with the Union’s objectives. The Union may participate in their scientific, cultural and social conferences and activities.
