2. Goals and Duties

1.Boosting up the medical profession, and enhancing the scientific and professional standards of the members

2.Organizing the relationship between the members, and encouraging the spirit of fraternity and cooperation among them

3.Organizing the job opportunities offered to the members

4.Offering the economic and social services to the members in a manner that ensures their benefit from the help offered by the Doctors Security Fund in cases of sickness, disability or death

5.Organizing the relationship between the members and the state’s machineries and other establishments and persons; and defending their rights; and enabling them to perform their duties; and cooperating with other unions and professional societies inside the country, whose objectives go in line with the Union’s, to participate in the growth and progress of the community.

6.Strengthening the relationships with the doctors unions in the Arab world, and participating in the Arab Doctors Union.

7.Cooperating, and data and experience exchanging with the Arab and international organizations, establishments and societies, whose objectives go in line with the Union’s objectives. The Union may participate in their scientific, cultural and social conferences and activities.

3. Achievements

Achievements of the board of the Iraqi medical association the 18th term starting 25/9/2005
1.Connecting the Baghdad office with a high speed link to the internet.

2.Constructing a web site for the Iraqi medical association.

3.Assisting the sick and in need colleagues and their families financially.

4.Issuing bounces for the participating colleagues supported by the social security fund of the association.

5.Assigning monthly payments from the social security fund the needing and deceased colleagues.

6.Celebrating the holy month of Ramadan with a dinner party on the 28th of the holy month for more than 150 colleagues.

7.Honoring Dr Hatem Jasim Mukhlis for his effort in reconstruction and rehabilitation of the buildings of the Iraqi medical association.

8.Honoring the president and members of the interim preparatory committee.

9.Organizing a seminar and workshop for all the heads of the association's branches in the governorates. The mechanisms of administration and their local problems were discussed and working suggestions and solutions agreed upon. The meeting's aims were to activate the office and administrative activities of the association and to reform procedures.

10.The president of the Iraqi medical association visited the offices of the Nineveh and Salahaldeen branches of the association and discussed their problems on site to help solve them.

11.The Iraqi medical association actively participated in the establishment of the Iraqi union for professional associations and unions. The president of the Iraqi medical association was selected as the acting chairman of the union.

12.Rehabilitation of the association's motor poll.

13.Preparing for the discussion of the Iraqi public health law and it's amendments with the general conference members of the Iraqi medical association.

14.Preparing the final draft of the bylaws of the Iraqi medical association.
